| TPI or Threads Per Inch is VERY important. We often hear of people complaining about their old sheets (bought elsewhere) that won't stay on.
This is caused mostly by shrinkage of the sheets. The higher the TPI rating, the less your sheets will shrink. Cloth, like wood has a sort of grain which is called "bias." The bias effect causes more shrinkage in one direction. This is why you should only consider quality sheets. Better sheets also last much longer. When you make your bed, ever notice that as you set each new corner that previously set corners are disturbed and slip a little. When making your waterbed, go around once setting each corner. Then go around and set each corner a second time, this ensures the sheets are on properly helping prevent the bottom sheet from slipping off your mattress. Finally, be sure to use a mattress cover. This prolongs the life of the mattress by keeping body oils off the vinyl and also helps prevent sheet slippage. Every mattress manufacturer requires mattress covers in their warranty. |
