How Much Does a Waterbed Weigh

Because waterbed frames are made from different types of wood with different moisture contents there is no way to tell exactly how much your waterbed frame weighs. We can say that a wood frame would normally be over one hundred pounds for a standard 4 board frame. Frames with bookcase headboards and frames with drawers underneath would weigh somewhat more.

We can show you how to figure out how much your mattress weighs approximately. This can vary a little depending on what is inside the mattress in the way of padding and how full the mattress is. For this we are going to assume a 9 inch fill. This would be .75 feet deep.

You need to know the volume of each mattress size, see table immediately below.

Waterbed Mattress - Computing Volume in Cubic Feet

Now we have the cubic feet of water in each mattress

Compute The Weight

Mattress Size
Cubic Feet
Cubic Foot Weight
          Weight of your Mattress
Cal.King
31.5
X     62.42796 lbs.
=
1967 lbs.

Cal.Queen
26.25
X     62.42796 lbs.
=
1638.5 lbs.

S.Single
     21
X     62.42796 lbs.
=
1310.82 lbs.

So the answer is:

Cal.King
=
1967 lbs.
 approx
Cal.Queen
=
1638.5 lbs.
 approx
S.Single
=
1310.82 lbs.

Why this should not matter: Waterbed Frames are built so that the weight of the bed is spread all across the floor, not in just one area.
